Meet Your Attorneys
Michelle Miller-McCoy
ATTORNEY
I’ve practiced law in the areas of estate planning and business for over thirty years. I enjoy helping clients find practical solutions by planning ahead by using simple tools such as Wills, trusts, powers of attorney, prenuptial agreements, limited liability companies and buy/sell agreements.
Sometimes, though, I meet clients after the worst has happened and the time for preplanning has passed. In these cases, the goal is to help them navigate their legal issues as professionally and kindly as possible. This might mean establishing a guardianship/conservatorship for a disabled family member, helping with a challenging probate or trust administration, or helping transition a family business.
My partner Sarah and I have similar practices and often collaborate when working with clients. However, we have learned from experience the value of having a specialized area of expertise. If your legal issue is outside of our scope, we will make a referral to an experienced attorney who will be a better fit.
I earned my law degree from Creighton University School of Law and my B.A. from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Before co-founding this firm, I was a partner at Erickson & Sederstrom, Carlson & Burnett and Nielsen, Miller-McCoy. I served on the Douglas County Board of Mental Health from 2015 through 2023 , was recognized as a Fellow of the Nebraska Bar Foundation, and have taught Business Law at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two children.
Sarah Duey
ATTORNEY
I am an attorney with more than twenty years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, probate, and guardianships. Over the course of my career, I have served as a trust officer for two major Omaha-based banks and in private practice, helping clients plan wisely and navigate life’s most personal transitions with clarity and care.
I earned my Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 1994 and my law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2005. Between undergraduate and law school, I studied in Germany as a Fulbright Scholar and worked in corporate marketing in Florida. I also hold the designations of Certified Trust and Financial Advisor, Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy, and Accredited Estate Planner.
I am honored to be a Fellow of the Nebraska Bar Foundation and to have served as past president of the Omaha Estate Planning Council.
I find great purpose in helping clients prepare for the inevitable and supporting them through what can often be a difficult process. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, both the human, furry, and feathered members alike!
